PROSPECTUS

PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY

This art show will only hang non representational abstracts.

Abstract Art is Art that is created spontaneously, it is art that does not exist until it has been painted by the artist.


Special Events Room at Sunset Center

The Special Events room at Sunset Center is approx. 13,294 sq. ft.

We are located inside the Sunset Center mall which house 45 galleries and studios, Amarillo Art Institute and Panhandle Art Center.

Juried Entries

The decision of the jury is final.  No refund of entry fees for unaccepted entries.  Artists will be notified promptly of the jurors’ selections.

Shipping

Shipping must be Pre-paid both ways (return shipping label required).  Insure your work for  full value.  Shipments from OUTSIDE the United States must be shipped “Free Domicile” or they WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Liabilities and Responsibilities

The Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo or Sunset Center will not be responsible for loss or damage of any artwork, no matter what the cause.  By submitting artwork to this exhibition each artist agrees to this statement.  Artwork is not insured while in the possession of The Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo 3701 Plains Blvd. #122 Amarillo, Texas 79102.

Best of Show $5000.00

2nd place $2000.00

3rd place $1000.00

All decisions of the Judge are Final.

Awards will be presented at the reception November 10, 2007 @ 7 p.m.


Painting Requirements

Mediums:  Oil, Pastel, Watercolor, Ggouache, Casein and Acrylic.

Size cannot exceed 36x60 (36 inches horizontal x 60 inches vertical). No exceptions.

All paintings must be framed/gallery wrapped and wired for hanging.  Metal Frames are not acceptable.

Exhibit History:  Paintings submitted must not have been previously exhibited in retail or for sale situations.  All art must be the original.

All artwork must be for sale and the price must be in line with your current retail price structure.  Overpriced paintings will not be exhibited.

Gallery Commission: 

Gallery sales commission is 50 % of the Retail Price.


Responsibilities of Artist

By entering the show, you agree that you have read and will abide by all rules outlined in this prospectus.  If you enter the exhibition you agree that the painting entered will be available for the exhibition. NO SUBSTITUTIONS OF ARTWORK WILL BE ALLOWED.


Delivery of Accepted Paintings

Local Artists:  Deliver uncrated paintings to Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo, 3701 Plains Blvd Amarillo, TX 79102, 1-806-353-5700.  ON THIS DATE ONLY:  November 6, between the hours of 12-5 p.m.   Fees- $25.00 each painting for handling fees.

Out of Town Artists:  Ship to:  Sunset Art Gallery of Amarillo 3701 Plains Blvd. #122 Amarillo, Texas 79102. Paintings must arrive Oct. 16-Nov. 1.  Include a $40.00 check for EACH BOX to cover the labor expense for uncrating, storage of crates, re-crating your painting and contacting a shipper for return.  The check should be in an envelope inside the crate with your paintings.


Entry Information

A MAXIMUM OF TWO ENTRIES PER ARTIST/PER DIVISION (max two oils, two watercolors etc.).

Slide Entries arriving after this date will not be accepted.

SLIDE ENTRY FEE FOR FIRST ENTRY: $25

SLIDE ENTRY FEE FOR ADDITIONAL ENTRIES: $20

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SLIDE/CD ENTRIES:

Each Slide Entry Must Include:

a)     One photograph of the painting – max size 4” x 6” (Does not have to be professionally photographed)

b)    One very high-quality slide/cd jpeg of the painting

c)     The slide/cd must include information as shown in the diagram

d)    Slides must be 35 mm with cardboard or plastic mount.

e)     All entry materials should be sent in #10 business size envelope (4 ¼ x 9 ¾)

All submitted materials will remain in show archives and WILL NOT BE RETURNED.


FINAL ACCEPTANCE DATE:

We must have all entries in our possession by Oct. 1, 2007.   NO EXCEPTIONS!

Painting size not to exceed 36 x 60 (36 inches horizontal x 60 inches vertical)

Submit one slide/cd jpeg and one photo of the same artwork.

Print large or type on entry form, slide/cd and photo

2007 TIMELINE

Please allow adequate time for arrival of notification cards.

Oct. 16- Nov. 1- Shipped paintings must arrive at gallery.  LATE ARRIVAL WILL NOT BE HUNG.

Nov. 6- 12-5 p.m.- Hand delivered paintings must arrive at Special Events Room between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Nov. 10, 6-8pm-Reception

Nov. 10-Dec. 20-Show will hang for these dates.

Dec. 21, 2007- Hand-delivered paintings must be picked up between 12-5 p.m.

Dec. 21, 2007- Gallery BEGINS shipping unsold paintings to artists.
